Have you ever experienced the warmth and innocence of a child tugging at your leg, looking up at you with eyes filled with trust and admiration? It’s a heart-warming scenario, one that often reflects the childlike faith alluded to in the Bible. In those moments, we become a symbol of safety, protection, and perhaps dependability to these little ones. Interestingly, the Bible encourages us to approach our relationship with God with a similar childlike faith, trusting and relying on Him completely in all aspects of our lives.
In Matthew 18:2-4, Jesus encourages us to embrace childlike qualities in our faith, childlike faith, emphasizing the importance of trusting God without reservation.
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:2-4
As we grow older, there’s a natural inclination to take control of our lives. It’s almost instinctive, driven by a desire for security and independence. However, the counterintuitive truth is that God desires us to retain that childlike trust in Him. Instead of trying to shoulder the burdens on our own, He invites us to cast our cares upon Him.
In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded to “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” This verse echoes the sentiment that God wants us to release our burdens and concerns, trusting that He will take care of us as a loving heavenly Father. It’s an invitation to exchange the heavy load we carry for a yoke that is light, as stated in Matthew 11:28-30.
Be encouraged to trust God wholeheartedly, just as those little ones trust the big person they cling to. Find rest, security, and the assurance that our heavenly Father is more than capable of taking care of our every need.
