Faith Beyond the Beat: Does It Stick When the Music Stops?

Hey fellow wanderers! I recently attended my first International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) meeting, and while I won’t bore you with all the event details, there was one thought-provoking moment I’d like to share with you.

Climate Change: Inspiring Videos vs. Real Commitment

We’ve all come across those captivating climate change videos, right? One of such videos was played at this meeting featuring the usual dramatic music and powerful visuals that ignite our passion for saving the planet. But here’s the kicker – does our environment-saving passion persist when the music stops? Is our love for the planet genuinely ingrained, or is it merely a fleeting emotion triggered by a compelling video?

If we were presented with an opportunity to make a tangible difference, would we take it? Would we step up and answer the call to make significant changes in our lives, like reducing our use of pollutive products? These are the kinds of questions that should make us re-evaluate the depth of our commitment beyond the comfort of our screens.

Testing Our Faith in Quiet Moments

Shifting gears to a Christian perspective, our faith encounters the most profound test when the external noise quiets down – after the emotionally charged worship and altar calls. In those moments of silent reflection and prayer, our true convictions come to the surface. We get to question whether our commitment to our Lord Jesus is genuine or simply a response to emotional triggers.

As Christians, our convictions should endure even when the music stops, reaffirming that our faith is more than just a show. It should guide our actions and decisions, echoing loudly in the quiet moments of God’s presence. So, let’s keep the faith and remain committed, regardless of the soundtrack playing around us!

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24-27
